The Antlers are an alternative to your traditional student cheer section at the University of Missouri’s sporting events and to say they have a controversial history would be an understatement. It’s theorized that The Antlers’ crude, vulgar and admittedly harsh tactics can have an affect on the way opposing teams play, making them advantageous, but at what cost? Although previous reigning Antler groups may have milked the freedom of speech for everything it’s worth, Julian Vizitei —the governing “Grand Poobah”—and his fellow Antler members are trying to reform what was once a contentious student group. Investigation suggests that this group of students may be MU Basketball’s truest fans; and you can hear them proving that from a mile away.
